ContentKeeper Launches Secure Internet Gateway at FETC

ContentKeeper Technologies is formally launching its Secure Internet Gateway today at the Florida Education Technology Conference (FETC) 2013. The Secure Internet Gateway, which provides real-time Web and social media filtering, reporting, and compliance tools for K-12 school districts, is available now.

The Secure Internet Gateway provides tools to protect against malware threats as schools are increasingly implementing BYOD and the use of social media in the classroom.

Features of the Secure Internet Gateway include:

  • Filtering and reporting tools, compliant with CIPA (the Children's Internet Protection Act), for desktop computers and mobile devices off and on school networks;
  • Social media controls;
  • Non-proxy based SSL/HTTPS that ward against "anonymous proxies, cyber-bullying, and unknown malware threats"; and
  • Malware detection analysis, which monitors for current and new Web threats.

Poquoson City Public Schools has used ContentKeeper: "We are struggling with a range of new security challenges such as managing social media, contending with a proliferation of Web-enabled devices and BYOD requirements and securing our network against a new wave of Web security threats and browser-based vulnerabilities. We appreciate ContentKeeper's revolutionary approach to security and network management especially with today's strapped budgets and resources," said Joe Coccimiglio, director of technology.

In addition, according to Wigley, K-12 schools that have at-risk students can apply to receive free Web-filtering services through its ContentKeeper Donation Program. Ten districts will be selected.

"We wish to recognize the value that education plays in our communities and the significance that technology plays in teaching 21st century skills. We believe that all schools should have access to the very best technology protection available, regardless of the size of their budgets," said Wigley, in a prepared statement.

ContentKeeper will be located at Booth 901 in the exhibitor hall.
