LoudCloud Revs Behavioral Learning Platform

LoudCloud Systems has released LoudCloud 3.5, the latest version of the company's teaching and learning platform for K-12 and higher education.

LoudCloud is designed around the four focus areas of behavioral analytics, task-centric design, social collaboration, and content personalization, according to the company. Manoj Kutty, CEO of LoudCloud, said the new version offers "significant innovation" across all four areas and includes more than 50 new features intended to improve student retention and performance, instructional effectiveness, and content delivery.

Key features of LoudCloud 3.5 include:

  • Integration with third-party content providers and platforms, such as YouTube, Khan Academy, and Quizlet, so students and teachers can embed content into course materials without leaving the platform;
  • An open catalog that lets educational institutions consumerize their courses for the general public without going through an open courseware provider, such as Coursera, Udacity, or Udemy;
  • Configurable notifications and alerts, so students and teachers can set benchmark outcomes and trigger points and receive alerts when performance falls below the threshold levels;
  • Improved curation engine in the LoudBooks adaptive e-reader, which profiles students based on their learning styles, matches them with pre-evaluated course materials, and recommends additional personalized material appropriate for each student's needs;
  • An "I Don't Get This" feature in the LoudBooks e-reader, which lets students tag material they don't understand and get help from peers, mentors, and teachers; and
  • Ability for students and teachers to create collaborative communities related to assigned content and shared interests.

LoudCloud also recently received Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) v1.0 certification from the the IMS Global Learning Consortium. LTI certification enables remote tools and content, such as LoudCloud, to be integrated into a learning management system (LMS).
