Amplify Launches Tablet, Learning Platform for K-12

Amplify Education has launched the Amplify Tablet, a 10-inch Android tablet designed for use in K-12 schools featuring a built-in learning platform.

The Wi-Fi-enabled tablets are intended for use in one-to-one computing initiatives and include preloaded educational material and reference tools such as the Desmos graphing calculator, EverFi's digital literacy curriculum, and Project Noah.

Other features of the Amplify Tablet include:

  • A "student-centered interface";
  • Pre-loaded search tools and apps;
  • Classroom tools designed to help teachers with lesson plans and prepare quizzes, and allows them to share media, send assignments, and manage student tablets in class;
  • Real-time feedback for differentiated instruction;
  • Search features to help teachers find multimedia resources aligned to the Common Core State Standards;
  • Professional development and ongoing support, both pedagogical and technical; and
  • Remote management that allows for provisioning, configuring, tracking, locking, and wiping of devices.

"This is more than just a tablet," said Stephen Smyth, president of Amplify's Access division, in a prepared statement. "It's a complete learning solution organized around the school day."

Amplify Tablets sell for $299 and a $99 per year subscription. A version with 4G LTE capability is also available for $349 and a $179 annual subscription fee. Minimum subscriptions for both versions are two years.
