U Southern California To Offer Online Doctor of Ed Degree

The University of Southern California's (USC) Rossier School of Education has unveiled plans to launch its first online doctorate degree.

Planned for launch in January 2015 with additional cohorts to be added throughout the year, the Doctor of Education (EdD) in Organizational Change and Leadership is designed to prepare "current and emerging leaders who want to foster learning that leads to systemic improvement in their workplaces," according to a school news release.

Designed for professionals in higher education, charter schools, nonprofits, corporations and government organizations, the three-year program "is pending university approval and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation," according to information released by the school.

Courses will feature live weekly classes and self-paced content available anytime through the 2U course platform.

"The USC Rossier School of Education has been a leader in using technology to scale and increase access to our programs so that we can prepare educators for maximum impact locally, nationally and globally," said Karen Symms Gallagher, dean of the USC Rossier School of Education, in a prepared statement. "Our new EdD will be anchored in the latest research on learning, motivation and organizational behavior. Our graduates will be fully prepared to lead and improve learning in their professions."
