RedCritter Debuts Achievement-Focused Classroom Management Tool

RedCritter has launched RedCritter Teacher, a classroom management tool designed to focus on student achievement.

RedCritter Teacher features wearable "achievement bands," near-field communication-enabled bracelets worn by students that "allow teachers to quickly distribute badges, skill points and even virtual currency to students by bumping their phone to the student's wristband or scanning a QR code on a desk," according to a news release.

Other features include:

  • A built-in idea lab with ideas from other teachers using the platform and a rating system to help identify the most useful tools. Ideas in the lab can be installed and ready for use with a single click;
  • Customizable digital badges, certificates and skills;
  • Support for both Common Core and traditional curriculum standards;
  • Real-time profiles, mobile notifications and weekly achievement summaries for parents;
  • A live wallboard, to share achievements with the entire class;
  • Interactive seating charts; and
  • A virtual currency and classroom rewards store.

"RedCritter Teacher highlights student achievements. We always focus on the positive aspects of learning including effort, progress and accomplishments. We believe positivity increases student engagement and increases parental involvement," said Mike Beaty, RedCritter CEO, in a prepared statement.
