Florida District Adopts New Tablet-Friendly Math Learning Platform

The Jackson County School District in Marianna, FL, will incorporate a tablet-ready math program throughout the 8,000-student school district.

Following the successful rollout of a 1-to-1 tablet initiative in kindergarten through eighth grade, district officials made the decision to use Fuel Education's LearnBop math education system. Fuel Education representatives said the LearnBop platform takes advantage of the interactivity and personalization opportunities that come with tablets to apply a step-by-step approach to learning math concepts.

At the same time, they said, it mirrors the one-on-one process that comes with tutoring.

As each step is undertaken by a student and understood, data on the student can be collected immediately and reported via a teacher dashboard.

"LearnBop is fabulous for remediation," Rogers said, "as it helps teachers assign the standards we are focusing on and then track and monitor each student's progress toward those standards."

District Math Coordinator Missy Rogers said the LearnBop initiative is particularly helpful now that the district is shifting to the use of the Florida Standards Assessments, meaning teachers now have different specific standards and data that must be tracked on student progress. The platform is in alignment with those standards and assessment tools.

"Districts across Florida are looking for proven education solutions that meet evolving state standards," said LearnBop founder and CEO Bharanidharan Rajakumar. "We've seen LearnBop make a remarkable impact on student success as we have quantified the improvement in test scores."
