Kajeet Debuts Homework Gap Funding Site
Kajeet,
a company that provides mobile Internet connectivity for students, has
launched a new website to help school districts identify funding
sources to help close the homework gap. The announcement was made at
this week's ISTE 2016 conference and expo taking place in Denver, CO.
While
many students may have computers at home, whether they belong to the
student's family or are provided by the school, a significant number do
not have Internet access at home, making it difficult for them to
complete homework assignments that require them to access online
educational resources. Numerous programs exist to help provide these
families with low-cost Internet service, but it can be a challenge to
make schools and families aware of those programs.
"Foundations
provide millions of dollars to school districts for programs that help
improve their communities," said Daniel Neal, founder and CEO of
Kajeet, in a news release. "We want to help our district partners more
readily find the funding when their budgets fall short."
Kajeet created Homework Gap Funding site in an effort to help school districts close the homework gap. The site
provides a searchable database of grants from foundations and
government entities, including school district funds, private
foundations, local grants and federal funds, that can fund or assist in
procuring off-campus connectivity. Site visitors can search the
database for national or state-specific funding sources. Kajeet has
committed to updating the site throughout the year, and to providing
funding-related resources for educators, such as the Grant Writing Tips
resource already on the site.
