Alaska SD to Implement Personalized Learning

The largest school district in Interior Alaska and third-largest in the state has formed a new partnership with a personalized learning solution provider. The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District will work with Education Elements over the next three years to implement a customized solution at all FNSBSD elementary and secondary schools, as part of its district-wide vision to provide personalized learning and integrate technology.

“It is time for us to make changes to traditional schooling to be innovative and adaptive to student needs and to prepare students for a society and employment opportunities that are not only very diverse but also constantly changing,” said Karen Gaborik, the district’s superintendent for the last 20 years, in a statement. “Personalized learning is our way to accomplish this, but it is a big task and we would be very challenged to do it on our own.”

Education Elements “builds and supports dynamic school systems that meet the needs of every learner,” according to a statement. The company will help build strategic alignment across the district, fostering a strong understanding of personalized learning throughout its schools. Additionally, Education Elements will assist schools in implementing models that meet their needs and help them select digital content.
