Acer STEAM Lab Makeover Contest Entries Due This Month

The application period for Acer's STEAM Lab Makeover contest is coming to a close in a few weeks. The contest will award a mixed-reality technology package to one school.

The prize package includes 10 Acer Aspire A7 laptops and 10 Acer Windows Mixed Reality headsets. The laptops offer a Core i7-7700HQ processor, 15.6-inch HD display powered by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive, gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac WiFi, among other features. The headsets offer VR capabilities and also allow students to interact with the real world with a flip of the visor. The devices include wireless controllers and are designed to pair "right out-of-the-box with the Aspire 7."

The total package value is about $13,000.

To enter, schools need to tweet @AcerEducation with the hashtag #AcerGivesBack. Entrants should include a brief statement about "why their classroom deserves to win a makeover and how the makeover would make a difference at their school." Entries may include multimedia as well, though the winner will be chosen at random.

Submissions to the STEAM Lab Makeover are due Aug. 31. Further details and complete rules can be found on Acer's site.
