SETDA Gets New Executive Director

Starting
in
May SETDA,
the
State Educational Technology Directors Association,
will have a new executive director. Candice Dodson currently serves
as the director of eLearning for the
Indiana
Department of Education.
She has been a long-time member of SETDA and served on the board as
chair. She also received SETDA's Leader of the Year award in 2016.
"Candice
was
a natural choice for SETDA Executive Director," said Julia
Fallon, current SETDA board chair and a program lead in Washington
state's Office
of
Superintendent of Public Instruction
,
in a statement. "Her enthusiasm and demonstrated leadership are
highly valued by her SETDA colleagues and our partners, and we are
excited to see where SETDA will go from here under her tenure."
"I
am
honored to have the opportunity to lead SETDA," Dodson added.
"I'm truly excited about reimagining the impact of the SETDA
community, serving and expanding the value of SETDA membership and
showcasing the importance of the SETDA voice on important issues
facing public education."
Former
head
Tracy Weeks recently left the organization to join learning
management system company Instructure.
In a previous position as chief academic and digital learning officer
at the North
Carolina
Department of Public Instruction,
Weeks was part of a team in 2015 that signed a contract adding
Instructure's Canvas to its statewide negotiated pricing list. She
joined SETDA as executive director in early 2016.
"Tracy
is
a talented leader who facilitated SETDA's development of new
resources and new partnerships to support the work of states as they
guide and support districts and schools implementing digital age
learning. We wish her well in her new position," said Carla
Wade, a member from Oregon who serves as SETDA's board secretary.
