Psychology of Tech Institute Teams with GoGuardian to Understand Tech in K–12

Two organizations have teamed up to contribute to the understanding of technology's impact in K-12. The Psychology of Technology Institute will be working with GoGuardian in several ways.

The Institute focuses on better understanding the human-technology relationship in order to improve it. Members do research on the factors of technology that shape our attitudes about it and how adoption of tech can change people's lives. Its advisory board includes faculty from numerous colleges and universities, as well as industry representatives. GoGuardian produces software to help educators manage 1-to-1 programs, including functionality for filtering and monitoring devices, performing classroom management and identifying students at risk for self-harm, based on their online activities.

Together the partners said they hope to uncover insights into how technology is used and can benefit the school community--including students, teachers and IT administrators. GoGuardian will also serve as a sponsor of the Psychology of Technology's annual conference.

"Everyone knows that technology has been a game-changer, transforming how people live, work and interact," said Juliana Schroeder, co-founder and co-director, of the Institute, in a statement. "By collaborating with K-12 education technology leader GoGuardian, we will be able to examine how and where the educational experience is improved with the use of technology."

"Our goal is to ensure that technology helps advance education," added Advait Shinde, co-founder and CEO of GoGuardian. "To achieve this, we need to partner with academic and research experts like [the] Psychology of Technology Institute."
