Skooli Partners with PowerSchool to Provide Online K–12 Tutoring by Licensed Teachers

Online academic tutoring company Skooli has announced its collaboration with cloud-based learning provider PowerSchool to offer personalized tutoring for K–12 students at schools that use Schoology Learning. Tutors are licensed teachers who have passed a Level 2 criminal background check as outlined by the International Task Force for Child Protection, Skooli said.

In addition to being licensed, tutors are “experienced teachers and/or hold higher education degrees with specialized qualifications and certifications in a variety of subjects and languages,” the company said. Over 1 million vetted tutors are available through the Schoology platform.

At a recent PowerSchool EDGE conference, Skooli spoke to educators, administrators, and ed tech professionals about how their tutoring platform assists students, especially those who lost academic ground during the pandemic. Skooli offers 24/7 drop-in support, with one-on-one personalized sessions. Students can chat with tutors through instant messaging; speak with them through high-quality audio; see them on video; write, type, and draw on a digital whiteboard; share files such as diagrams, tests, and essays; see personalized feedback, study tips, and areas needing improvement; and replay tutoring sessions.

“Through this collaboration, administrators can easily provide students and teachers a way to access support without ever leaving the Schoology Learning platform,” said Marcy Daniel, chief product officer at PowerSchool.

“We recognize the profound influence a great teacher can have on student outcomes,” said Rene Frey, Skooli CEO. “As the only online tutoring company attached to a teacher licensure and recruitment platform, Skooli is dedicated to providing equitable access to high-quality education for students worldwide.”
