Kaplan Virtual Education, a business unit of education provider Kaplan, has opened the virtual doors on Kaplan University High School, a national online high school.

A private, accredited online high school, KU High School provides an entirely online high school education for “traditional- and nontraditional-aged” students who want to earn their high school diploma in order to advance their careers or go to college.

KU High School’s curriculum covers essential high school courses, such as language arts, mathematics, history, and science. Students can enroll in single courses or in an 18-credit College Access Diploma program. To earn a diploma KU High School students must take at least five one-credit courses.

Under a special “scholarship” program, KU High School graduates who remain continuously enrolled as full- or part-time students are automatically accepted into Kaplan University, an accredited online university where they can earn associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, as well as certificates. KU High School alumni attending Kaplan University also receive a 20 percent tuition discount when they enroll in associate or higher degree programs.

While the courses are online, students can reach instructors over the phone and by e-mail and instant messages. Academic Coaches provide added support to students. KU High School’s instructors are state-certified teachers from across the United States.

Kaplan Virtual Education is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award high school diplomas and by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).
