DJI Releases Writing Intervention

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Don Johnston Inc. (DJI) has expanded its lineup of Solo literacy tools with the release of Solo Writing Coach, an instructional framework targeting struggling learners in grades 3 through 12. Writing Coach is a component of the Solo Literacy Suite, a technology-based reading and writing scaffolding system.

According to DJI, Writing Coach was developed by Karen Erickson, director of the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. "This intervention model demonstrates the effective combination of technology and self-regulated strategy to close the achievement gap for struggling learners," she said. "It provides students with the support they need to improve core literacy and independent writing skills and a manageable way for educators to reach large student populations and attain higher outcomes."

Solo Writing Coach includes three lesson books, a CD independent practice exercises, an implementation guide and a walkthrough for administrators. It requires the Solo Literacy Suite, which incorporates a number of educational technologies for building literacy, including Co:Writer, Write:OutLoud, Draft:Builder, and Read:OutLoud. Pricing Solo with the Writing Coach kit starts at $3,399 per site.
