NEC Launches Installation-Grade Projectors for Large Spaces

NEC Display has announced two new high-light-output, fixed-installation projectors specifically designed for use in education environments--the NP2200 and NP1200.

The new NP-series models are designed for flexibility, with features like five optional bayonet-style lenses that accommodate screen sizes from 40 to 500 inches at projection distances between 2.8 and 304 feet. Vertical and horizontal lens shift provides flexible projector placement.

Connections include VGA, DVI-D with HDCP, 5-BNC, multiple audio in/out ports, and RJ-45 network control. In addition, Virtual Remote (DDC/CI) allows users to control the projector directly from a computer without the need for additional control cables.

The difference between the two projectors is brightness. The NP2200 is specified at 4,200 lumens, the NP1200 at 3,700. NEC said both are designed to be energy-efficient, and users can actually measure the energy savings with an option at startup.

Other features of the NP2200 and NP1200 include:

  • 1,024 x 768 native resolution (XGA);
  • 600:1 contrast ratio;
  • Closed captioning;
  • 5-watt stereo speakers;
  • Remote for adjusting audio volume of self-powered, connected external speakers;
  • AutoSense for automatically synchronizing the projector with any computer signal and for delivering one-touch image optimization;
  • Integrated RJ45 connection for LAN connection; and
  • Remote diagnostics.

The NP2200 and NP1200 will carry estimated street prices of $2,399 and $1,999, respectively.
