NEC Ships Sub-$1,000 Projector with Emergency Broadcast Capabilities

NEC has started shipping a portable, network-ready DLP projector with the ability to display emergency broadcasts notifications over onscreen content.

The NP-V300W projector offers a native resolution 1,280 x 800 (WXGA), a contrast ratio 2,000:1, and a brightness of 3,000 lumens. It includes a 1.1x zoom lens and can display images on an area ranging from 33 inches to 300 inches (diagonal) at distances between 3.9 feet and 39.4 feet.

When connected to computer or network, the new projector, the NP-V300W, can be monitored and controlled through an embedded copy of Crestron RoomView Express, an AV management tool capable of manipulating the projectors settings, monitoring its basic functions, and activating its emergency broadcasting capabilities.

The software provides an event scheduling function with the ability to automatically turn off the projector at the end of the day; a help desk feature used to notify technical support staff when help is needed; and a development tool used to create and store emergency instructions, images, animations, and safety protocol. Additional features of the software include logging and reporting capabilities, malfunction alerts, and e-mail notifications.

  • Other features of the NP-V300W include:
  • Automatic wall color correction;
  • Vertical keystone correction of ±40 degrees;
  • Auto power on;
  • Sleep timer; and
  • An integrated 7 watt speaker.

The projector weighs 5.5 pounds and measures 12.2" (w) x 9.7" (d) x 3.7" (h).

AV inputs include HDMI, dual analog RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin), component, S-video, composite video, and stereo RCA jacks. Outputs and peripheral ports include a stereo minijack, analog RGB/component (mini D-sub 15-pin), and RJ-45.
