Ed Tech Grant To Provide up to $100,000 for New Jersey Schools
Optimum Lightpath, a company that provides Ethernet communications services, will award as much as $100,000 to help New Jersey K-12 schools expand their use of technology.
The grants, available to customer and non-customer schools within Cablevision's New Jersey coverage area, will be awarded based on how the schools would use the funds to:
- Improve instruction with technology;
- Improve the education experience through technology;
- Use technology to promote distance learning; and
- Launch new initiatives with technology.
"The Optimum Lightpath grant program has created opportunities for our school to deploy technology that has truly impacted learning," said Lisa Gross, principal of Fernbrook Elementary School, which won an Optimum Lightpath grant in 2010. "Our students have become more involved in the discussion of world events, and have been given a platform to discuss their own accomplishments outside of school. These experiences will play an important role in their ongoing education."
Eligible schools can apply now through October 10 at edu-grant.com. Winners will be announced at the New Jersey Education Technology Conference November 13.
"Since Optimum Lightpath began its education grant program in 2010, more than 350 K-12 schools have submitted applications detailing plans to integrate technology into curriculums," said Julia McGrath, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Optimum Lightpath. "We are so inspired by the education advancements that our local schools are actively pursuing and proud that we’re able to help put some of these tech-based programs on the fast track with important grant dollars."
