Curriki To Launch New Site with Social Features, Improve Resource Reviews

The open educational resource (OER) provider Curriki will unveil a new, updated Web site featuring responsive design, social tools and other upgrades this summer.

According to Curriki representatives, the new Curriki Global Community will make it faster and easier for educators to take advantage of open educational resources.

The new site is designed to make it easier to search for, upload, align and organize materials and create collections according to a number of different criteria, including lesson plan sets, units, student playlists, video collections and more.

Taking advantage of social media tools, the new site will also allow community members to "follow" other members who contribute content that they like and connect with peers in collaborative groups. There will also be new opportunities to join discussion forums and post news of community activities.

Finally, a new tool, OER Rubrics, will help the Curriki Review Team evaluate resources and give more detailed information on the value of specific resources.

The new site will be on display during the ISTE 2015 conference June 28 and 29 in Philadelphia.

Curriki is a nonprofit that provides an opportunity for K-12 teachers, students and parents to create, share and find open learning resources. Anyone can join Curriki at no charge and access its resources.

"Our goal with the new Web site was to apply our years of experience working with the worldwide education community and leverage today's technology to give educators everywhere opportunities to inspire learning in others and students to become inspired to learn," said Curriki Chairman and CEO Kim Jones.
