Master Teacher Shares Methods w/ Colleagues

FASE Productions, which has received more than 100 awards for its educational television programs featuring two of America's most respected teachers -- Jaime Escalante of East Los Angeles and Kay Toliver of East Harlem -- has released Teacher Talk, a new series of staff development videos for teachers.

"Teacher Talk," featuring Presidential, Disney and Kilby award winner Kay Toliver, was created as a resource for a profession that, according to the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, "has suffered from decades of neglect." The Teacher Talk series is designed to enable any school in the country to include a "Kay Toliver workshop" in its staff development program.

The videos (four in the first module) bring teachers into Ms. Toliver's East Harlem middle school classroom, taking them step by step through the lessons and strategies highlighted in Good Morning Miss Toliver, the award-winning PBS special. They are accompanied by guides to form the basis of a half-day workshop, with an emphasis on practical, easily implemented lesson plans, activities and teaching strategies.
