NEW RELEASES - Farallon Communications

The 16-port Fast Starlet Dual Speed Hub from Farallon Communications is designed for high-density Fast Ethernet environments where existing 10Mb devices, such as printers or older workstations, cannot be upgraded economically. The hub features 16 10/100Base-TX Ethernet ports, plus one crossover uplink port for maximum flexibility. It supports all standard Ethernet protocols including TCP/IP, AppleTalk and IPX, while N-Way auto-negotiation permits automatic 10Base-T or 100Base-TX selection. The hub also features at-a-glance LEDs and auto partitioning of faulty network segments. This offers a low-cost solution for schools looking to integrate Ethernet with Fast Ethernet.

Also from Farallon, the 2.0 Fast EtherTX-10/100 CardBus driver for Macintosh PowerBooks increases networking performance up to 69% over the version 1.3 release. Users can take full advantage of the hardware and operating system advances in CardBus-equipped Apple PowerBook products, and get the same 32-bit PCI bus performance found in desktop computers for transferring files over the network. The 10/100 CardBus adapter also ships with Windows 95/98 and NT drivers. Farallon Communications, Inc., San Leandro, CA, (510) 346-8000, www.farallon.com.
