Software Series Focuses on Core Subjects

Kaplan, Inc. and Encore Software have announced the availability of Kaplan Essential Review, a new software line designed to help high school students build critical skills and improve their grades in core subject areas. The first three titles in the series are U.S. History & Government, Biology & Chemistry, and Writing and Vocabulary. They are available in Windows/Macintosh CD-ROM format.

Each title presents content in the same interface design and functionality, ensuring ease-of-use throughout the series. Also featured on each title are practice tests to help students track progress and identify areas for further study, tutorials and quizzes for each chapter, test-taking tips and strategies, diagnostic tests, textbook-correlated content, and context-sensitive help. Brainstorming, outlining, glossary and bibliographic programs for homework assignments and papers are also included.

Students can begin the program any way they like. Some prefer to read the table of contents and proceed step-by-step from there. Others may opt to take the 25-question diagnostic test to determine their mastery level in that particular subject. Each title in the series is aligned with grade- and subject-specific curriculum.
