Reminder: T.H.E. Journal Webinar Thursday

11.29.2006—T.H.E. Journal will host another in its series of Webinars covering technology in K-12 education. The latest event to be announced, "Implementing a Secure 1:1 Network," will be held Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. PST. Registration is free. (See link below.)

During the last decade, the Internet has become a valuable educational tool for K-12 school districts across the country. One district in particular, Irving ISD, in Texas, has developed a comprehensive 1:1 laptop program for every high school student. But with that implementation came some critical decisions as well as challenges.

This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by DeepNines Technologies, will examine why Irving ISD decided to move to a 1:1 model, how they set up their network and the security issues they encountered in implementation.

A stellar panel, featuring Alice Owen and Darrell Vaughn of Irving ISD, and moderated by Geoff Fletcher, Editorial Director, T.H.E. Journal, will offer lively discussion on best practices, advice on how to keep students safe and focused on learning in the 1:1 environment, and Q & A.
