TCEA: Learning.com Debuts K-5 Math Curriculum

2/6/2007—At the annual convention of the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA), online instruction provider Learning.com today debuted a new supplemental math curriculum for K-5 students. Dubbed Aha!Math, the new service combines math instruction with gaming nd offers tracking and assessment features through the Learning.com management system.

Aha!Math is Learning.com's first core curriculum product. The Web-based system is, according to Learning.com, aligned to NCTM Focal Points and state math standards. It offers an interactive and game-based learning environment and provides feedback for students as they participate in lessons and activities and play "pedagogically sound educational games." t also includes digital coaches, which are onscreen characters who provide feedback to the students.

For educators, it provides features for tracking and reporting on student progress at the individual, group, class and school levels.

Learning.com said it partnered with FableVision, an educational media producer, for some of Aha!Math’s key features.

"Our partnership with FableVision allows us to provide educators with a product that incorporates Learning.com's expertise in Web-enhanced curriculum with FableVision's deep understanding of performance-based learning, and its unique strengths in animation, storytelling and game-based learning solutions," said Barclay Burns, chairman and founder of Learning.com, in a prepared statement.

Learning.com is the developer of EasyTech, a tool designed to help incorporate technology skills into core curriculum, and TechLiteracy Assessment, a performance measurement tool for elementary and middle school students.
