Sanyo Ships Short-Throw LCD Projector

Sanyo has debuted a new short-throw projector targeted toward classroom applications. The new LCD-based PLC-WXE45 can project an 80-inch (diagonal image) from a distance of less than a yard.

The PLC-WXE45 offers a widescreen (16:10) resolution of 1,280 x 800, a brightness of 2,000 lumens, and a contrast ratio of 500:1. It features Color Board Mode and Black Board Mode for compatibility with a variety of projection surfaces, including "all standardized educational boards," according to Sanyo.

Other features of the new projector include:

  • Closed captioning;
  • Instant on and off when plugging in or unplugging the projector's power cord;
  • Various security features, including PIN code lock and anti-theft alarm;
  • Communications via RJ-45; and
  • RGB, S-video, and composite video inputs.
