Free Meeting App Goes Mobile

Join.me now runs on Apple's iPad, as well as iPhone and iPod touch.

Software developer LogMeIn has launched a mobile version of its free meeting and screen sharing system, join.me, for Apple iOS-powered devices, including iPhone and iPad.

Join.me is a service that allows users to create meetings with chat, screen sharing, and sharing of control of a participant's computer. It supports up to 250 participants and an unlimited number of meetings. No registration is required to use the service, either for the desktop version or the iOS version.

The new mobile version, launched earlier this month, allows users to access join.me meetings and screen sharing sessions on their iOS devices. Features include:

  • Support for attending meetings over 3G and WiFi;
  • The ability to chat with other meeting participants; and
  • Support for gestures, zooming.

Join.me is available now as a free downloadable app for iOS devices (1OS 3.2 or higher) from the iTunes store or for desktop systems through LogMeIn's site.

A pro version of the desktop app, called join.me pro, is also available now for $29 per month or $299 for an annual license. (The pro version supports personalized meeting addresses, the ability to assign the role of presenter to multiple participants, and Web-based tools for scheduling meetings.)

Further information about the desktop version can be found here. The iOS version can be accessed directly here.
