Kno Releases E-Textbook App for Latest Android 'Jelly Bean' Devices

Kno has brought its interactive textbook reader to the latest Android operating systems. Kno Textbooks supports devices running Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and 4.1.x/4.2 (Jelly Bean), including the Samsung Galaxy Note II; the newly expanded Google Nexus family (Nexus 4, 7, and 10); and other tablets and smart phones.

Kno Textbooks (also available for iPad, the Web, and Windows 7 machines) offers access to a catalog of 200,000 electronic textbooks from major textbook publishers, including Cengage Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and McGraw-Hill Higher Education, among others (65 total publishers currently). Textbooks are available for both K-12 and higher education.

The app itself offers a range of enhanced mobile learning tools for working with textbooks, including a course manager that lets students organize textbooks and other learning materials in a central location. Other features include:

  • Highlighting and note-taking;
  • Sharing;
  • Alignment with Common Core State Standards for K-12 textbooks;
  • Integrated digital journal;
  • Search;
  • Saving and syncing work via the cloud;
  • 3D capabilities;
  • Smart links for explaining concepts in depth using multimedia and external sources;
  • Self-test tools; and
  • Automatically generated flash cards.
