San Lorenzo High Adds PA System with Wireless iOS Control

San Lorenzo High School, part of the San Lorenzo Unified School District, has installed a new public address system. Using equipment from Technomad, The Northern California school put in four weatherproof loudspeakers and a pre-wired signal processing equipment rack next to its outdoor sports field, which accommodates about 1,500 spectators. The implementation uses Technomad Noho gear, two speakers on the home side and two on the visitors' side of the field.

System integration was handled by San Francisco-area integrator Lloyd F. McKinney Associates. According to the company's owner and president, Rick McKinney, the school had no "real PA system" in place previous to the new installation. He noted that the system was expected to survive heavy winter rains and winds. "If they get soaked, it won’t make a difference in sound quality,” he said.

Installation included mounting the loudspeakers, attaching the cables, plugging in the mixer and amplifier, and turning on the sound system."was seamless,” according to McKinney.

The system has an input connector in the signal processing rack that allows an iPod or Mp3 player to be plugged in. Plus, the iPod operations will be controllable via wireless from the field.

The district is planning a second Technomad installation at Arroyo High School in the same district this spring.
