Atlanta Public Schools Steps up Cloud-Based HR Functions

Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has enhanced its existing cloud-based human resources software to add more features for both new and existing employees.

Previously, APS had chosen Infor's cloud-based service in an effort to improve the hiring and orientation processes for potential teaching candidates and new hires. District representatives said they were able to reduce the amount of time between when an employee was hired and when they were able to begin work. At the same time, it reduced a lot of the time-consuming and paper-intensive processes previously involved with the hiring process.

The district recently came to agreement with Infor to add more services via its Infor UpgradeX software. With Infor Learning Management, new employees will be able to complete in online formats certain training courses that are required.

APS has also started implementing Infor Global HR and Infor Dynamic Enterpriser Performance Management software to give its human resources professionals more financial performance management applications, packaged analytics and compliance tools.

"We are providing employees with unified access to everything from benefits information to performance evaluations," said APS Human Resources Technology Manager Fred Jenkins. "This will help us to resolve more routine inquiries without HR intervention, allowing our HR team to focus on more value-add projects and strategic objectives."

APS has more than 50,000 students on 98 campuses.
