Pennsylvania Launches Pinterest of Educational Resources

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) today launched a Pinterest page of K–12 educational resources in an effort to reach more students, families and educators across the state.

The Pinterest page (under the handle @PADeptOfEd) features “boards” that organize original and shared content, including:

  • STEM;
  • Art;
  • Music;
  • Reading and Writing;
  • College & Career Readiness;
  • Food and Nutrition;
  • Physical Fitness;
  • Educational Apps;
  • Driver Safety; and
  • Classroom Ideas.

The “STEM” board, for example, has pinned a list of 60 STEAM apps (organized by grade level) that educators can use to teach concepts like geometry and chemistry. Another pin offers ideas for at-home science projects. Additionally, the “College & Career Readiness” board features infographics on the college application process, as well as how to receive federal funding for college.

"By engaging students, families, and educators digitally, the Department is using new and innovative ways to meet communities where they are," said Pedro Rivera, secretary of education for PDE, in a prepared statement. "Pinterest is a powerful planning tool that provides significant value to users. The Department is proud to offer this new platform to residents of the commonwealth, and hopes that Pennsylvanians will engage with the helpful resources provided."
