Abl Acquires School by Design
Technology and consulting firm School by Design has been acquired by Abl, a developer of school scheduling software.
Abl’s Master Scheduler platform provides both cloud-based controls and coaching by scheduling experts to help schools create and manage schedules; gain insights into scheduling issues like core class assignments; and audit for potential disparities, such as gender distribution in STEM classes, teacher experience versus class size, inequities in enrollment in advanced courses, etc. School by Design offers analytics tools to help district leaders “make resource decisions when needed, as needed, and to improve their annual resource planning cycle.”
According to Abl, “The unique combination of powerful analytics capabilities with hands-on support will enable schools and districts to not only understand the implications of schedule decisions, but make strategic changes to optimize conditions for teaching and learning, improve efficiency, and address priorities of equity and access. Abl and School by Design already work with a number of the nation’s leading districts, including San Diego Unified School District, San Antonio Independent School District, Colorado’s Aurora Public Schools, Rankin County School District in Mississippi and Federal Way Public Schools in Washington State.”
Abl said School by Design will “continue to provide the same services to current school partners, now under the company name Abl.”
The combined company will now serve 230 schools across 55 districts in 23 states. All of School by Design’s employees will become part of Abl.
