Tennessee District Ramps Up Print Production with Mimeo

A Tennessee school system has hired print management company that happens to be locally based to generate the hard-copy resources needed for at-home learning. Shelby County Schools is working with Mimeo to provide printing services for guides and workbooks and other printed educational documents. Both are located in the Memphis area. Mimeo produces online managed content distribution and provides printing services.

The district's teachers and instructional people pull the curriculum together while Mimeo does the printing. The completed digital books are stored in an online library. Mimeo makes the printed versions in a Memphis facility and delivers the books to the school system's distribution center.

"SCS is committed to providing instructional support to students and families during school closure, and the partnership with Mimeo is critical as we cultivate a system of supports to maintain continuity of learning," said Superintendent Joris Ray, in a statement.

In a weekly message to the district community, Ray explained that while digital versions of lessons and activities have been placed online, "due to an overwhelming response," the district was also printing additional materials and would announce a central location for pickup shortly.

Mimeo noted that it was offering half off of school print and delivery to schools across the country through May 30, 2020.
