Based on a desktop form factor, the appliance (MSA stands for “midsize appliance”) brings enterprise-level filtering to smaller organizations such as schools. The company has also released the R3000 version 1.5, which includes features such as Real-Time Probe so teachers can monitor specific computer activities in real time, X-Strike to block a student’s Internet access for a period of time after multiple attempts to view blocked sites, and Google Safe Search to prevent inappropriate content when within the search engine.
