BenchPrep App Provides Social Test Preparation

BenchPrep has launched the BenchPrep app, a cross-platform test preparation and learning app.

The BenchPrep app features material for tests including the SAT, GRE, LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT, and allows students to review material, take practice tests, study flashcards, see progress reports, chat with peers, and compare their performance with other users.

According to information released by the company, the app will soon include the following additional features:

  • A social Q&A will allow users to post questions to be answered by peers and tutors;
  • Public notes will give students the ability to post and access notes about review materials, practice questions, additional resources, and study tips;
  • Study plans will allow students to set up a schedule and receive alerts and notifications;
  • Students will be able to compete against each other and track their progress through leaderboards, and earn rewards and credibility within the app;
  • SMS quizzes; and
  • Study groups.

The BenchPrep app is free, but the study materials and books, provided by publishers including McGraw-Hill, John Wiley, and Cengage Learning, must be purchased.

Without finding any relevant reviews I decided to buy their GRE prep course in August 11, and I was expecting prep course based on the new format, but I got course based on old format. So I tried to contact their costumer service asking for refund, and after sending them few emails, I finally got a reply(Sophie) saying that they are planning to update their GRE content by the end of August. I didn't receive any futher update from these guys, then I contacted them back in 2nd week of September 11, and this time I received email(again from Sophie) apologizing and promising that I would receive update by the end of the weekend. Their that weekend never came and I being very disappointed contacted them again, this time she said( again Sophie ) I should receive update by the end of the day. This time I received a email from these guys asking for $50 to get the update. Being very angry and frustrated I sent them final email saying that If I didn't receive my refund in 3 days I am going dispute the charges through my credit card. Finally I received my money back on the 3rd day(after 2 months). I would not suggest any serious GRE taker to waste their time with these guys.
