Nassau County To Adopt RM Learning Platform
Florida's Nassau County School District is adopting the RM Learning Platform with funds obtained through a recent Race to the Top grant.
The RM Learning Platform is a learning management system and portal designed for K-12 schools and districts. It includes a content management system, student information system integration, personal online workspaces, and features designed to facilitate communication and collaboration. RM Learning Platform's features include:
- The ability to search for resources by keyword or standard;
- Lesson creation;
- Attendance and behavior tracking;
- Chat rooms;
- Tools for RSS feeds and podcasts;
- Discusion boards;
- Wikis;
- Shared calendars; and
- E-portfolios.
The Nassau County School District serves more than 11,000 students at 15 schools. In 2010 Nassau County achieved an 89 percent graduation rate with 79 percent of students qualifying as ready for college according to SAT, ACT, and CPT scores.
"The Nassau County School District selected the RM Learning Platform because it met the requirements of Race to the Top and the Florida Local Improvement Instructional System standards" said Edward Turvey, assistant superintendent of instruction for Nassau County School District. "It was important for us to find a partner who could help us fully implement the requirements by 2014. Our top three priorities are creating curriculum maps, developing assessments aligned to the common core standards, and accessing real-time student achievement data. We also wanted to reduce our overall costs in the economic downturn. RM was able to provide a solution to help us save money and provide additional tools for our teachers, administrators and students."
