Oracle To Launch Enterprise Social Network

Oracle is launching an enterprise collaboration and social networking tool, Oracle Social Network, which will be offered as part of the new Oracle Public Cloud services.

Oracle Social Network enables users to communicate and collaborate with other people inside or outside of their organization using a variety of tools, such as personal profiles, groups, activity feeds, status updates, discussion forums, document sharing, co-browsing and editing, instant messaging, e-mail, and Web conferencing. Oracle Social Network also provides native applications for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices, along with Web browser support, so mobile users can work and interact from anywhere.

Oracle Social Network is integrated with other Oracle Public Cloud Application services, Fusion Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management (HCM), as well as business intelligence and business processes, so users can receive information from these systems in real-time and update applications and business processes from the Oracle Social Network.

To ensure security and privacy, Oracle provides each organization and its users with a virtualized and private instance of the Social Network for collaboration with configurable retention and audit policies for traceability.

Key features of Oracle Social Network include:

  • Real-time communication and collaboration, including shared document markup, chat, Web, and application conference sharing;
  • Streaming text, content, video, and voice;
  • Secure collaboration between internal and external groups;
  • Integration with other Oracle Public Cloud applications, such as Fusion CRM and Fusion HCM;
  • Feeds of business events posted in Oracle Social Network streams;
  • Gadgets to update Oracle Public Cloud Applications from within Oracle Social Network;
  • Full content search capabilities, including real-time auto-complete and context filtering;
  • Live Digest snapshots of unread activity streams; and
  • Personal and shared follow-up flags for critical information.

Oracle Social Network will be offered under controlled availability in the near future, and pricing will be based on a monthly subscription model. Further information about Oracle Social Network can be found at cloud.oracle.com.
