MultiTouch Unveils Flexible Interactive Displays

Modular multitouch LCD display developer MultiTouch announced a new line of 42-inch interactive displays today at InfoComm 2012 in Las Vegas.

Geared toward installations where a smaller screen size is required, the MultiTaction Cell MT420W7 LCD display has a scalable, thin-bezel frameless design that can be embedded in custom-designed enclosures. The companion MT420S offers a stackable product that can be designed for large wall, table, or asymmetric display configurations.

Features of the displays include:

  • 200 frames-per-second gesture tracking
  • Low surface temperature
  • Flexible stacking options
  • Operation in bright external lighting conditions
  • Support for augmented reality applications
  • Detection of whole hands, not just fingertips
  • Multi-OS support, providing a wide range of development and integration options

The company also introduced support for infrared pen input. The MultiTaction IR Pen software allows multiple users to write, draw, sketch, and brainstorm designs and words on MultiTaction Cell displays using most IR pens. The software distinguishes clearly between pen and touch interactions and can be used with MultiTaction Cells for collaborative presentations, in a table configuration or a wall of up to 24 stacked displays.
