A fundraiser that collects over $80,000 annually for schools is explained on a Web site at www.alphasmart.com/funding. The Harmony School fundraiser, deemed by California Consortium of Educational Foundations as the most effective fundraiser in California, has been refined by author and consultant Roger Young. Young has combined forces with Intelligent Peripheral Devices (IPD), producers of the Alpha Smart Pro, a stand-alone keyboard with a built-in word processor. Suited for writing or keyboard practice, 20 of the units will be given away to schools that qualify. Young and IPD wish to set up a dialogue with principals and technology directors to provide them with funding information over a period of time.
