Target Stores Enriching Education and Rewarding Community Service

As part of Take Charge of Education, begun in April 1997, Target Stores will offer nearly $3 million in scholarships. One million dollars is available for Target Teachers Scholarships for full or part-time certified teachers, administrators and support staff at schools participating in Take Charge of Education. Each Target Store will award two $500 scholarships and each Target district will award one $1,500 scholarship. $1.9 million will be awarded to high school seniors or graduates, and current college students under the age of 24 who demonstrate a commitment to community service, education and volunteerism. There are five $10,000 scholarships and more than eighteen hundred $1000 scholarships for students.

The application forms for both scholarships are due November 1, 1999. Award recipients will be announced in mid February, 2000. Target Stores, Minneapolis, MN, (800) 316-6142, www.target.com.
