Enhanced System Manages Broadband Networks

ADC has released an enhanced version of the FiberBase 4.0 system, its software for end-to-end broadband asset management. This tool features a centralized database and a graphical user interface. It provides users with a single-source solution for recording and accessing detailed information about their networks. The system manages end-to-end connectivity information, including all the equipment, fiber and coaxial cables, connections, and signals that make up the network.

New features include a completely integrated MapInfo Map Workspace that provides a top-down view of the network, and allows the user to drill into the network from a geographical map. Crystal Reports allow the development of custom reports to run faster and more efficiently. Visio, an easy-to-use drawing software, has also been incorporated into FiberBase.

Software enhancements include improved documentation of multiplexers, splitters, WDMs and DWDMs, leading to comprehensive bandwidth management. Drag-and-drop functionality speeds data entry and editing. Thematic tools can speed planning and provisioning by providing the capability to create customizable color-coded maps that display unutilized assets.
