Software Helps Students Discover Possible Career Paths in Minutes

The Vocational Research Institute's CareerScope Interest Inventory is an early career awareness tool that assesses both interests and aptitude, and is comprised of 145 task statements. The test taker responds to the program by choosing whether he or she likes, dislikes, or is unsure about his or her attraction to the work activity statement. The results from the inventory are compiled into a comprehensive Individual Profile Analysis (IPA). The inventory is self-administered and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. A student can take the assessment, print the results, go through a thorough interpretation of the results with a teacher or counselor, and plan future exploratory activities.

The CareerScope Interest Inventory measures and identifies career preferences that correspond to the U.S. Department of Labor's 12 interest areas. The management system produces individualized reports in both tabular form and graphic display for easy interpretation. Legends are also provided for information on each of the interest areas, including high-growth employment opportunities, training programs and areas of study associated with the test taker's most significant interest areas.
