Ed Tech Associations Call for Classroom Tech Funding Through EETT
Three major education technology advocacy groups and the Software & Information Industry Association issued a call Wednesday urging the United States Congress to invest in technology for the classroom and to use the existing Enhancing Education through Technology (EETT) program as the conduit for the funding. Under the Bush administration, EETT had come under budgetary assault on several occasions, and funding has declined consistently over the years, from $696 million in 2004 down to $267.5 million in FY 2008.

Canon Debuts SXGA+ LCoS Multimedia Projector
Canon has debuted a new model in its REALiS line of LCoS-based projectors, the SX800, an SXGA+ multimedia projector that uses Canon's latest-generation 0.55-inch LCoS (liquid crystal on silicon) LCD panels.

Promethean To Launch Platform-Neutral Interactive Whiteboard Software
Ed tech developer Promethean said it will release a new interactive whiteboard software suite that's designed to work with any whiteboard brand and on multiple platforms, including Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. The software, called Activsoftware Inspire Edition, will debut next week at the 2009 FETC convention in Orlando, FL.
