TeachingBooks.net Expands Web Tools

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

TeachingBooks.net, an online resource focused on books used in K-12 instruction, has expanded its slate of Web 2.0 tools designed for educators. The site recently launched a new blog featuring guest posts from book authors and also introduced Teacher Tips, resources ratings, and other reading-focused resources.

TeachingBooks.net provides an online database of multimedia literature resources to support reading activities. The new blog, which is the centerpiece of the expanded Web 2.0 tools on the site, launched publicly at the end of January with its first guest blogger, author Kimberly Willis Holt (Keeper of the Night, My Louisiana Sky, Dancing in Cadillac Light).

Other new features on the site include:

  • Teacher Tips, which allows educators to "exchange strategies for using multimedia book and author resources" with other educators from around the world;
  • A new tool for rating resources in the TeachingBooks.net collection; and
  • A new Eye-on-the-Web service for receiving alerts about articles covering specific grade levels and subject areas.

According to TeachingBooks.net, the service is used by some 21,000 schools in the United States. Further information can be found here.
