Brief: School Yearbook Sales Go Online with New Service

Two companies have teamed up to provide schools with a way to sell their yearbooks online. Lifetouch National School Studios, one of the largest companies in the school picture business, has added a school Webstore function created by Active Network to its yearbook business. The new Webstore feature will let schools sell their yearbook products securely online, provide financial reporting and inventory tracking and offer a way for schools to communicate with students and parents via e-mail about upcoming sales.

"Schools and education institutions don't always have the financial resources to accommodate the technology demands of students and the community," said Jenny Rasmusson, marketing associate at Lifetouch. "By adding Active Network's Webstore solution to our product offering, schools can now end the manual processes traditionally used to sell school items and provide an easier, more secure solution for purchasing student keepsakes like yearbooks and class photos."

Besides publishing an online school Web site store application, Active Network's Educate division also develops programs for textbook tracking, facility and service management, payroll, and other school operations.
