New Dimension Media To Launch Streaming STEM Resources in January

New Dimension Media will release in January a streaming media program with curriculum material focusing exclusively on the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

The program for K-12 students will include more than 300 standards-based STEM programs from such venues as Planet H2O, Disney, including "Eyes of Nye" and "Bill Nye the Science Guy," PBS Nature, The National Science Foundation, and Britannica SmartMath. It will also include original media.

New Dimension's streaming services feature:

  • Original high-definition video (H.264), audio, maps, data, graphics, animation, and Flash-based media, and material from partner companies;
  • Hosting on an intranet server placed in the district network; and
  • Ability for school districts to add their own resources.

"According to the 2010 International Student Assessment Report, American students now rank 17th in science and 25th in mathematics. And according to the 2011 ACT Report, only 45 percent of high school seniors are prepared for college-level math, and only 30 percent are prepared for college-level science. As schools and school districts across the country rally to respond to this crisis, NDM is excited to be leading the way with affordable, high quality STEM-focused programming," said Jo-Ann Kratz, senior vice president of curriculum and technology.

New Dimension Media, a Chicago, IL-based company, creates and distributes multimedia supplemental materials and resources aligned with district-specific core curriculum. Its catalog includes more than 1,000 programs. It partners with such companies as Reader's Digest, A&E, and Discovery Channel.
