New Online Platform Deals With Cycle of Bullying

An online platform that deals with reducing bullying in schools has been introduced. Representatives at Bridg-it say its new software, Bridg-it School address the full lifecycle of an incident of bullying, from the moment it is reported, compliance guidelines are met and the situation has been resolved.

Available by way of computer, tablet or smartphone, anybody in a school environment — students, teachers or other staff members — can report an incident within minutes of it happening. Bridg-it School also has more than 150 pieces of curated content designed to impact student behavior.

At the same time, the reporting process is guaranteed to satisfy federal and state statutes regarding compliance requirements. Bridg-it School also supplies data to administrators and teachers designed to help them identify patterns, trends and potential problems that involve bullying in their schools.

Bridg-it School was piloted over the past year at several schools in the New York City area and, while no statistics on its use were available, Dominick D'Angelo, principle of the David A. Boody Junior High School in Brooklyn, NY, said it "is enabling us to handle harmful situations quickly and efficiently. As a result, our students are more empowered and feel they are being heard."
