Tableau Fellowships Aim To Improve Student Outcomes with Data

Fifteen organizations have been selected the Tableau Foundation to participate in a fellowship program designed to improve data use in uncovering achievement gaps and improving student outcomes.

As part of the fellowship, the selected communities will receive software, training and funding worth $420,000 combined. Fellows will also have the opportunity to work with Tableau experts, share ideas with one another via an online portal and discussion forum and access to $49,000 in training from Tableau partner InterWorks.

"The fellowship will help these communities effectively use and visualize local education data to advance collective impact work to help more students succeed," according to a news release. "With Tableau, a global leader in rapid fire, easy to use business analytics software, the communities will be able to easily create interactive data visualizations to share with partners or publish to their Web sites with a few clicks. The software can also be used to help make data accessible in real time for all education partners throughout a community."

The selected organizations include:

"Each of these communities is already taking bold data-driven action to close achievement gaps," said Geoff Zimmerman, associate director of data utilization with StriveTogether, in a prepared statement. "With the intensive data analytics training and Tableau software provided through the fellowship, they will be even better equipped to improve results for all students."
