AWA Accepting STEM Grant Applications Through December 31

The American Water Association Charitable Foundation is now accepting STEM Education grant applications from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 as part of its Keep Communities Flowing program, which awards grants for Water and Environment, Workforce Readiness and STEM Education.

Grant decisions are made on a competitive basis on factors such as inclusion, diversity and equity; community presence and impact; and project budget, scope, feasibility, and sustainability. The STEM grants are part of the Keep Communities Flowing initiative, which supports its “three pillars of giving”: Water, People and Communities. STEM grants focus particularly on curricular and extracurricular activities that make high-quality learning available to underserved students and that provide opportunities for American Water employees to engage with the schools. “American Water has long believed in the importance of being a good neighbor and good steward of the environment. In our mission to demonstrate American Water’s commitment to the communities it serves, we align our grant making to American Water’s values,” the organization said.

Applications are accepted only from schools in the Association’s 13-state service territories: California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Go to the organization’s charitable grant page to learn more and to the application page to apply. Grant decisions will be made by Feb. 15.
