Basic Skills SW Designed To National Standards

SkillsBank's CornerStone Mathematics and CornerStone Language Arts, two new basic skills programs, are now available. Both are based on a five-step formula that builds student confidence and competence. The Warm-Up gives an interactive demonstration of lesson concepts; Review provides practice in areas of weakness found in the Warm-Up; the Quiz gauges students' understanding of key concepts by using a standardized test format; Take Five is a unique, arcade-style learning activity that reinforces concepts; and the Worksheet provides added practice and challenges students with a creative writing exercise. CornerStone Language Arts comprises 175 lessons that provide comprehensive coverage of spelling, punctuation, capitalization and usage. The Teacher Management Program lets one customize courses for individual students. Assignments can be generated by the computer or created by the teacher. CornerStone Mathematics has been designed specifically to complement the NCTM Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics in the following areas: Number Concepts; Data and Graphs; Whole Numbers; Decimals, Fractions and Percents. Both programs come with content manuals, operations manuals and lesson summaries and worksheets. SkillsBank Corp., Baltimore, MD, (800) 451-5726, www. skillsbank.com. WM
