New PC Integrates Videoconferencing Tools

Tailored for distance learning and other videoconferencing applications, IPC's i2i PC integrates a 100 MHz Pentium PC with a full-motion video capture card with ISDN interface, telephone handset, Win2Win software and a color digital video camera. Also standard are a PCI bus interface, 1GB hard drive, 16MB RAM and the firm's i2i videoconferencing codec, which delivers 30 fps. Supporting international ISDN switch variants, it can be installed worldwide. In addition, IPC's MPEG compression technology lets one play back movies and video clips from a video server or CD-ROM, eliminating the need for a separate MPEG playback board. Other highlights are an MVIP interface, for real-time sharing of files and documents, plus a virtual whiteboard with drawing, painting and annotation tools. The i2i PC also supports Ethernet LANs up to 384 kbps, high-speed remote access to the Internet and remote laser printer control. IPC Peripherals, Inc., Fremont, CA, (510) 354-0800.
