CAD/CAM Sys. Gets New Modeling Tools

ANVIL-5000, a mechanical CADD/CAM/CAM system used in community colleges and universities, debuts Ver. 5.1. Version 5.1 has new functional-ity in two areas: CAM and relational/parametric modeling. For instance, users can now cut verti-cal and nearly vertical multiple surfaces in a single tool path; and use ball, flat, bull-nose or tapered cutters in 5-axis swarf cuts. Four new constraints have been added to both the 2D and 3D editions of ANVIL Intelligent Modeler (AIM) for greater control over design parameters. The wire EDM module is also improved.
